Institutionalization of Process Performance Models in IT organization

IT organizations are expected to follow Capability Maturity Model Integrated standards (CMMI-Dev V1.2) for application development and application enhancement projects. According to CMMI-DEV V1.2, the process performance models are used for estimating, analyzing, and predicting the process performance associated with the processes in the organization’s set of standard processes. Quantitative predictive models help in pro-actively managing client commitments. Though process performance models add lot of value, their usage in IT organizations is very limited. The challenges with process performance models and success factors to institutionalize these models are discussed in this paper.
